Makes me mad and troublemakers in hospital. CPS can’t be bothered – it’s a sad day when society will not protect the carers – fair dues for us old bill we expect it but not for ambos.

When I first joined the ambulance service I had moved from a career in nursing. It wasn’t long before I realized the difference between”nursey distance” and “paramedic distance” from my patients. In hospital, medical staff and nursing staff tend to be able to approach patients and get hands on with relative ease. This doesn’t prepare you for life in the ambulance service. It only took me 4 weeks before I got my first, and last, punch in the face from an ” unconscious” patient! At least my service has a pretty good record for supporting the staff and seeking prosecution against our assailants!
