Emma...thankyou very much. Hope you are well and all that. Dont overdo it on the turkey and cooking sherry! x

Lil sis...it still makes me wince when I think about it! My voice has returned to normal pitch. x

UHDD...dont do tutu's but used to wear tights in the forces on exercise. Best thermal kit going (any forces bods will back me up on this...I hope!)
Although a couple of the lads used to go a bit too far and wear the full kit...stockings and suzzies! But we tended to keep away from them! x

AnneDroid...GCS is short for 'Glasgow Coma Scale'. Its used to determine levels of consciousness in a patient, 15 being the best/3 being basically dead! x

Stonehead...we cant get pillows for our vehicles/stretchers never mind grit for icy conditions. Once saw a milk tanker side-slide down a long country lane...plenty damage in slow motion. Ballerina to farmer? Two extremes.

joan...thanks joan and same to you and yours. x

Louise...thanks Louise and take care. x

TO EVERY ONE WHO TAKES THE TIME TO READ MY INANE RAMBLINGS THANK YOU. wISHING YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A PROSPEROUS NEW YEAR. YOU ALL STAY SAFE NOW...!!!

Excellent post and nice to see you back again.

We had a similar incident, in terms of the vehicle sliding, here recently when traffic was diverted from a major A-road down our rural backroad after a serious crash. The first vehicle in the line of traffic was bus. When it tried to round the bend in front of the croft, it pirouetted beautifully and then slid sideways down the road, coming to rest with the front overhanging one verge and the road overhanging the other.

It took a lot of faffing and 25kg of salt (from our own stockpile) to get the bus out.

Ambulances in the colder parts of Australia often used to carry a sack of grit in the back for getting out of icy conditions and for making it safer for the crews to recover the patient. I don't suppose they'd do it in the UK though!

AnneDroid, it certainly is possible for humans to do that. Top-notch gymnasts, martial artists and dancers can manage it. I was able to do it when I did ballet. Today, the very thought of trying makes me wince.

What is a GCS level of 15?
And has the stool been airbrushed out of that photo or can human beings actually do that?
Good post, btw. Funny how sliding on ice is so much fun when you're a kid and so not fun when you're an adult. I broke my cocyx (is that how you spell tail bone?) once by sitting down rather abruptly on the ice.
