I believe that there are 50 towns and cities across the UK who have signed up to the "Citysafe" project.

Some concentrate on drugs, others on violence, community ideas etc.

Its a package of funding from central government to the city councils for a 3 year project. Thats as much as I could find out.

Thank you so much for this posting as it answers my question from last night re: the combined response vehicle. Sadlyit has blown my two theories out of the window :-)) However, this really does seem to be an ideal combo especially on weekend nights as you have demonstrated from the call load you both dealt with.

I can see why the cops would be really keen to sign up to this. I can remember an ambulance strike where they made the police do the calls and some of the cops were emerging from the back of the transit vans in a worse state of panic than the pts. It wasnt their fault they didnt know how to care for really sick pts or to sit the COAD's upright etc as this was not something they had been taught or expected to need to know. I am sure both sides are picking up skills and knowledge from each other which may just come in very handy one day tho' I am not sure they will let you carry quick cuffs or CS, no matter how useful they might come in!

Thanks again,
Lucy

The smelly toxic feet are all too common, especially when taking them off in custody. I have been slapped around the face too many times by the smell of rotten feet.
We see the same things at the weekend don't we!
I will add your blog to my side bar and will try to read as often as possible.
